Court Removes Uche Secondus From Office As PDP National Chairman

A Federal Capital Territory High Court on Wednesday removed from office, Mr Uche Secondus, as the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Delivering judgment, Justice Huseini Baba-Yusuf held that Secondus was occupying the office of acting chairman of the party illegally.

The judge, therefore, ordered Secondus to immediately vacate office and hand over the party’s affairs within 14 days to a capable person from the North-East, where the office was zoned to in line with PDP’s constitution, or Mr Ahned Gulak,a former Political Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, who instituted the action.

The plaintiff had in his originating summons contended that Secondus, who is from the South-South, was occupyig the office of acting chairman of the party illegally, since the PDP’s national chairmanship position was originally zoned to the North-east part of the country, where he (Gulak) came from.

Gulak had further urged the court to declare him the party’s acting national chairman to replace Alhaji Ahmadu Muazu, PDP erstwhile national chairman from the North-East, who resigned earlier following the party’s loss of the 2015 presidential election to the then opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.

This, he submitted, was in line with PDP’s constitution, as well as its zoning principle.
